Let me be clear. Neither of these narratives is okay. And yet, both of them have been said by the same person.


People who hold power and privilege over others often have difficulty submitting themselves to their own standards. When they offer trite "helpful" explanations to "solve" an issue, they put the burden on the affected. We know now that these folks can't be bothered the inconvenience of changing their behaviors for the sake and safety of themselves or others. Ouu, yes, we are aware. It was never about the safety of others. It was about how to maintain your status quo sans consequence. As they say, Viruses will be Viruses.
